NC Board Certified in Workers’ Compensation Law Attorney Matt Harbin

Matt Harbin, a Workers’ Compensation Attorney and shareholder at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, has been appointed to be a board member for the 2011-2012 North Carolina Advocates for Justice’s Workers Compensation Section. In addition to his seat on the Workers’ Compensation Board, Harbin has also been named a member of the section’s ethics committee.

“I am pleased to serve as a board member for the Workers’ Compensation Section of the NC Advocates for Justice,” Harbin said. “The Board serves an important role helping attorneys representing injured workers throughout the state. I am excited to have a role in protecting citizens’ rights.”

The North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ), headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a nonprofit organization that seeks to utilize professional and community legal education to protect the safety of North Carolina citizens in all aspects of their lives. With almost 4,000 members, the group seeks to protect the rights of the individual as their members represent the injured and fight for rights in the workplace. NCAJ hosts approximately 40 professional development seminars throughout the year to help attorneys gain knowledge and improve their skills. The group also aims to expand the general public’s understanding of the US legal system as they manage public outreach and several education initiatives.

Matthew Harbin, a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation law, joined the firm in 2003 as a Workers’ Compensation lawyer and became a shareholder at James Scott Farrin in 2008. In addition to sitting on the NCAJ Workers’ Compensation Section Board, Harbin is also involved in the NC Workplace Injury Litigation group as well as being appointed by North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue to serve a two-and-a-half year term on the North Carolina Commission for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services.
